Auntie Dot's Scottish Pancakes

  Ingredients:  4ozs Plain flour
                           2 Tablespoons Sugar
                           1 Teaspoon Cream of Tartar
                           1/2 Teaspoon Bicarbonate of Soda
                           Pinch of Salt
                           1 Egg
                           1 Teaspoon Golden Syrup
                           1 Teaspoon Melted Butter
Milk (about 1/2 a cup full)

  Method:
Put the flour, sugar, cream of tarter, bicarbonate of soda and salt into a mixing bowl and mix
together.  Add the egg, the melted butter and the golden syrup.  Start to add the milk, a small
amount at a time and blend together. Keep adding small amounts of milk until mixed to a thick
  consistency.

Put a heaped tablespoon of the mixture on to a hot griddle.  Cook for about 1 or 2 minutes, turn
over and cook the other side.  Keep turning until both sides are golden brown.

The ingredients listed above will make about 10 pancakes.  Spread with butter and top with jam
or golden syrup.  Delicious either hot or cold.
